In 1963, Esther gave birth to Roland, the youngest child in a large family. Roland was born with a club foot that prevented him from standing upright. Against everyone's advice, she promised her son that he would walk like everyone else and have a wonderful life. From then on, Esther would stop at nothing to keep that promise. Through decades of trials and miracles, this film tells the true, funny, and moving story of an incredible destiny and the greatest love there is: that of a mother for her child.
