This documentary explores the making of Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times at a pivotal moment when silent films were giving way to sound. Faced with audience expectations and the challenges of the Great Depression, Chaplin chose to keep the Little Tramp silent, creating a hybrid film in which only the voices of the powerful are heard. In doing so, he transformed silence, humour, and poetry into tools of social critique and universal resistance.
