In September 1871, sixteen-year-old Arthur Rimbaud runs away from his native Ardennes to Paris, the capital of artists and revolutionaries. He embraces the bohemian lifestyle and joins the circle of poets known as the Parnassians. With a handful of dazzling verses, the young prodigy shakes the poetry of his time.
Wandering through the darker corners of the city with Paul Verlaine, his "companion from hell," he plunges into forbidden experiences, discovering sex, drugs, and alcohol-fueled nights. In post-Commune Paris, where the traces of the barricades still linger, moral order has prevailed, and Rimbaud burns with the desire to escape its authority. Rebellious and furious, he dreams of transgression, exhilaration, and upheaval.
Inspired by the famous painting by Henri Fantin-Latour-the only artwork depicting the scandalous pair of poets-this documentary, narrated by the voices of Zaho de Sagazan and Félix Moati, invites viewers to explore a pivotal chapter in the life of Arthur Rimbaud.
