During their residency at DesPrés, multidisciplinary artist Mériol Lehmann and writer Charles Sagalane facilitate an intergenerational encounter centered on a sensitive exploration of the Sutton landscape.
Using photographs, video, and sound recordings, children from the Sutton school and seniors from Villa des Monts are invited to observe their surroundings, from the infinitesimal details seen by a dragonfly to the vast vistas embraced by the flight of a vulture.
A correspondence emerges from this shared experience. The children write to the seniors as if addressing trees, while the seniors reply as if writing to flowers. These letters will be shared and read aloud during the public presentation.
Childhood and old age converse with one another, bridging the gap between tree and flower. It is an encounter designed to foster an exchange of perspectives, experiences, and imaginations across generations, and to nurture our connections within the living world.
