Although Adam Karch hails from Montreal, his music embodies the spirit of Americana, like a picturesque stroll across the Great Plains. He plays a hybrid acoustic blues that consists of precise fingerpicking reminiscent of musicians such as RL Burnside, Mississippi John Hurt and Kelly Joe Phelps, as well as an innovative percussion technique that is thoroughly modern, yet somehow primitive and rooted in tradition. His style encapsulates the sound of a one-man band where the offbeat is always present, his palm producing the sound of a snare drum on the strings. Karch also incorporates a Porchboard for the bass drum rhythm, while the bass notes he plays with his thumb serve as the basis for melodies strummed with his index and middle fingers, creating a constant musical flow.

With this configuration, Karch went to the IBC (International Blues Challenge) in Memphis in January 2023 and won the "Best Solo/Duo Guitarist" category! The IBC is a world-renowned blues competition where the best blues players from around the world attempt to showcase their talent to a panel of judges who score them based on a myriad of factors. After this victory, he went to Denmark in August 2023 for a 12-concert tour that made a big impact in that country, and he'll be back in Denmark in 2024!

Adam's raw talent was evident from the first time he picked up the guitar at an early age. By the age of 14, he was playing in bands, headlining clubs and dazzling audiences with his spirited guitar playing and soulful vocals. In early 2024, Karch is about to release his most ambitious and personal recording yet. Some Awkward Country Ahead, his sixth album, features 10 songs composed entirely by SOLO that showcase not only Karch's incredible and varied talents as a guitarist and singer, but also his songwriting abilities. He has also teamed up with new co-writers from Columbus, Ohio and old friend Dale Boyle. The album's title reflects Karch's observation of the world's great changes since 2020, and its themes, Karch sings of suffering, love, redemption and letting go, all rooted in a country/folk spirit and flavor
Highlights from Some Awkward Country Ahead include "Back on my feet" - "When you take the time to stop everything, to sit in silence, you can realize everything that wasn't serving you in this world once you hear nothing, all the answers come and you realize where you belong and where you don't, then your real journey begins," says Karch. "Honkey Tonk Tears" is a melancholy country ballad that depicts the relationship between two people, one who wants to make the relationship work but the other who doesn't change and doesn't realize what he has until it's too late and in the end, he's left with Honkey Tonk tears in his eyes. With such respect and understanding of blues, country and roots music, Karch's recordings and concerts are capable of touching the hearts and souls of audiences worldwide. For fans of blues, roots and folk, Some Awkward Country Ahead is like putting all the pieces of life together in music, one song at a time...
