Marie-Noëlle Lavoie will speak about the singular and visionary composer Rita Strohl, who enjoyed significant artistic recognition at the turn of the 20th century before falling into obscurity. Now being rediscovered, her music captivates with its lyricism, dramatic intensity, and harmonic boldness.
Marie-Noëlle Lavoie is a graduate of the Conservatoire de musique de Rimouski (piano, class of Pauline Charron) and holds a PhD in musicology from the Université de Montréal. She has been a professor at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal since 2014, where she teaches musicology, music history, musical literature, and research methodology.
