Titled "Les amours et la vie d'une femme" (The Loves and Life of a Woman), this concert features Elisabeth St-Gelais accompanied by pianist Louise Pelletier. She will perform works by composers including Schumann. The detailed repertoire will be published at a later date.
An Innu from the Pessamit community, Elisabeth places great importance on sharing her culture through her artistic mission. She is the grand winner of the prestigious Wirth Vocal Prize from McGill University in March 2022, the Grand Prize (ages 19-30) at the Canada Canimex Music Competition in June 2022, and was named the same year in the esteemed #CBC30under30 list, where she stood out as a rising Indigenous opera artist under 30. In April 2023, she won First Prize in the 26-30 category at the Classival Festival. On June 11, 2023, she won the Prix d'Europe at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal. That same year, she was awarded First Prize and the Audience Choice Award at the Canadian Opera Company's annual CentreStage Competition.
In November 2023, she was the District Western Canada Winner and Northwest Regionals Encouragement Award Winner in the MET OPERA LAFFONT COMPETITION. Deeply involved in Montreal's musical community, Elisabeth has served as a board member of the Conseil Québécois de la Musique since April 2023.
The soprano continues to perform across Canada with prestigious engagements at the Canadian Opera Company, L'Orchestre de l'Agora, the Montreal Youth Symphony Orchestra, I Musici, the Quebec Symphony Orchestra, the North Shore Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre Classique de Montréal, the Toronto Summer Music Festival, Cecilia Concerts, the Festival d'Opéra de Québec, and more.
As an Indigenous artist, Elisabeth is committed to reconciliation with Indigenous peoples in Canada and proudly represents the Innus of the Côte-Nord, her nation.
